Perfect for families with children over the age of 10.
Bots 'n Pieces is a tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) where you'll join a screwball team of clapped-out robots on the junk-covered frontier planet of Tartaria. You're an Urfling, a Bot created for various purposes: gardening, opera, or WAR. The coolest thing about Urflings? You can COMBINE them into more powerful and weirder characters!
Yes, giant Worms might want to eat the minerals in your diodes. YES, there are dangerous and unexplored frontiers. YES, there’s a technorganic scourge that might try and assimilate you. But there are also OTHER ROBOTS HERE! Junk-eating Tartarians, human-like Lellurians & Warmongering Erobytes. Buckle up for an epic adventure in this robot-filled world!
Mechanics:
Bots ‘n Pieces uses Action Pools for players to defeat Challenges (often evolving narrative problems and threats) and occasional Obstacles (singular win-or-lose situations).
Players describe what they want to do and then build Action Pools by spending from a limited set of themed Programs, choosing only those that fit the current narrative. Each Program is represented by a dice type: d4, d6, d8, d10, or d12. Players can also build Action Pools by Combining the robotic bodies of two or more Bots, creating a new Character (called a Link) for a brief time.
Every time the Players take Actions to face significant Challenges, the GM will roll 3d6 to see if Stress is created - the narrative results of Stress represent non-player characters (NPCs), foreseen or unforeseen complications making your Bot's lives a little more exciting.
